Brain downloads and cyber immortality.

Building fully conscious computers with superhuman level of intelligence by 2020. Quite , amazing , ain’t it ? But how about the possibility of downloading the human brain to super computers and making cyber immortality a realty? I don’t want to conceive it. But futurology visionaries do. And they seem to know what they’re talking about.
Ian Pearsen, head of UK telecom’s futurology unit, even says :” If you’re rich enough then by 2050 it’s feasible, if you’re poor you’ll probably have to wait until 2075 or 2080 when it becomes routine”. Some will love it , some will fear it but none can stop it!

"Pharmers", the newest generation of internet thieves.

About two years ago we’ve heard for the first time about “phishing”, which is the sending of bogus emails allegedly from a bank or a legitimate online business, by thieves who want to steal people’s sensitive data. The ruse of those criminals is to invite their victims to click a link that points them to an authentic-looking website where they then have to enter their data. The data gets then stolen.
Today a new and more sophisticated ruse is being used by the latest generation of internet thieves: “The pharmers”. Instead of sending out bogus emails, pharmers plant a piece of malicious software on users’ computers and DNS servers which are the servers that direct internet traffic. What happens then is that users type their info in the right website but the software directs it to a bogus one.
To get protected against this type of theft, it is always advised to look for a padlock on the browser’s corner and to check that the address in the address bar begins with “https:” not “http” before entering any sensitive data.
We’re never safe enough on the internet. We have to do our best!
